The circuitry utilises ELM processor as a central interpreter for ISO standard on-board diagnosis (OBD-II) equipped vehicle using an RS232 serial connection, to convert between a fast ISO 9141 data stream and standard ASCII characters for a robust connection to PC or PDA.
